Variety Description
Hosta Van Wade (Kuk, 1990) [H. Dorothy Benedict x H. Northern Lights] Dark green leaves surrounded by a creamy yellow border. Clump gets a foot high and 17 inches wide. Named for a great hosta person, Van Wade. Lavender flowers.
Hosta ventricosa [species] Large shiny dark green, heart-shaped leaves. Vigorous and a quick multiplier, this one is a great hosta for mass planting. It's an oldie but goodie but the best part are the deep, deep purple flowers. Amazing display when in bloom.
Hosta ventricosa 'Aureomaculata'

(Hensen/AHS, 1987) [Sport from H. ventricosa] Yellow centered leaves with a dark green edge. Leaves turn green in summer. Stunning spring specimen plant. Purple flowers. Clump gets 15 inches high by 32 inches wide.
Hosta ventricosa 'Aureomarginata' (Hensen/AHS, 1986) [Sport from H. ventricosa] Still one of our favorite hostas. Dark green leaves have a yellow twisted margin that later turns white. Impressive clump is 19 inches tall by 18 inches wide. Outstanding specimen plant or planted in mass! An older classic and still takes your breath away!
Hosta Venucosa (Summers/AHS, 1986) [H. venusta x H. ventricosa] Shiny medium green leaves make a huge clump measuring 20 inches high and 55 inches wide. Bright purple flowers. Perfect for using to frame your specimen collection or as a backdrop for other plants.
Hosta Vera Verde (Aden/Klehm Nursery, 1990) [Parentage unknown] Very narrow green shiny leave are bordered with a thin creamy white edge. Upright 14 inches tall and 30 inches wide, great for a rock garden. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Verna Jean (Lachman, 1990) [H. Flamboyant x H. Flamboyant] Small hosta with light lime green leaves bordered by a creamy edge. Makes a great border plant that only gets 7-8 inches high by 16 inches wide. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Veronica Lake (Riehl. 1993) [Sport from H. Pearl Lake] Another perfect border plant, this hosta looks great planted in mass. Bluish green leaves with a creamy white edge. Gets 10 inches high and 14 inches wide. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Vilmoriniana (Ruh/Vilmorin et Andrieux, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Small light green wavy leaves with some sheen. Forms a low clump at 9 inches tall by 16 inches high. Beautiful in front of larger variegated hostas. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Warwick Choice (Jones, 1993) [H. William Lachman x H. William Lachman] Medium green leaves with a pure white edge. Perfect clump gets nearly 2 feet high and 4 feet wide. Deep veins make the leaves look very dramatic. Near white flowers.
Hosta Warwick Edge (Jones, 1993) [H. William Lachman x H. nakaiana] Medium blue green leaves with a pure white edge, Clump gets 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Medium lavender flowers. Beautiful spring colors.
Hosta Waving Winds (Lachman, 1991) [H. Galaxy x H. Galaxy] Narrow wavy dark green leaves bordered with creamy edges. Makes a stunning clump 11 inches high and 20 inches wide. Medium violet flowers. Looks like its always moving.
Hosta Wheaton Blue (Zilis, 1999) [Sport from H. Paul’s Glory] This blue green hosta has great texture. Clump will be over 2 feet tall and over 4 feet wide. Give it some room. Lavender flowers. Great for the background planted in mass. Get 3 and start your planting, they are not expensive!
Hosta Whirligig (Walden West, NR) [Sport of H. Whirlwind] This cutie has upright, twisted and pointed leaves that have a creamy white center and wide green edge. Poetry in motion!
Hosta White Angel (?) [Sport from H. Blue Angel] Whitish center on blue green leaves. Should be a large clump but not as big as it's parent. Pale lavender flowers
Hosta White Christmas (Ruh/Krossa/Palmer, 1999) [Parentage unknown] White leaves with a medium green border. Very slow due to the white centers. Clump will be 14 inches high and 2 feet white. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Winfield Blue (Zilis, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Wavy powdery blue leaves of great substance. Clump will be 18 inches high and almost 4 feet wide. Pale lavender flowers. Beautiful in spring.
Hosta Winsome (Ward, 1996) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Pin Stripe Sister] Medium green leaves with a crisp white edge. Clump gets 8 inches high and 15 inches wide. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Winter Lightning (Anderson, NR) [Sport from H. Indiana Knight] Discovered by our friend Jim Anderson of Winterbury Farms, this hosta has very unusual streaking on these green wavy leaves. Medium size clump.
Hosta Winter Snow (Anderson, NR) [Sport from H. Sum and Substance] Chartreuse green shiny leaves with a large white border that streaks into the center. Will get to be a very large clump.
Hosta Wolf (Summers, NR) [Parentage unknown] Again from our friend Alex Summers and another one named for one of his beloved dogs. It has great blue leaves in spring that turn a dark shiny green later in the season. Makes a beautiful clump. A rare hosta that's hard to find in the trade
Hosta Wolverine

(Wilkins, 1995) [Sport from H. Splash F5 seedling x H. Dorset Blue] Bluish green long leaves are bordered in a creamy yellow edge. Outstanding clump gets 15 inches high and 38 inches wide. A stunning specimen plant with pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Yankee Blue (Brincka/Balitewicz, 1999) [H. Blue Arrow x H. nigrescens Elatior] Medium blue green leaves that turn green later in the season. Clump gets 20 inches tall and 55 inches wide. Beautiful specimen plant with near white flowers
Hosta Yellow Flame (Hawes, 1999) [Sport from H. ventricosa Aureomarginata] Big yellow leaves with a slightly green edge. The pale lavender flowers are awesome. A very RARE cultivar!
Hosta Yellow River (Ruh/Smith, 1993) [Parentage unknown] Medium green leaves with a yellowish edge. Big beautiful clump gets 2 feet high and over 4 feet wide. A Classic everyone needs. White flowers
Hosta Yellow Splash Rim (AHS, 1986) [Sport from H. Yellow Splash] Long medium green leaves are bordered in white. They often appear to be cascading. Clump gets 18 inches high by 43 inches wide. Bright lavender flowers
Hosta yingeri (species) Medium to dark green shiny leaves comes to us from Korea where it grows amongst the rocks. Flowers are very pretty lavender color and "spider-like"
Hosta Yucca Ducka Do (Lydell, 2000) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Minuta] From Ran's breeding program, this is an upright clump, with medium green leaves and a very thin white edge. Pale lavender flowers.
