Variety Description
Hosta Raspberry Sorbet (Zilis/Lohman, 1999) [H. rupifraga x H. Shining Tot] Nice pointy and wavy green leaves. Clump gets a foot high and nearly 3 feet wide. In late summer you get red flower scapes topped with purplish flowers. Really gets your attention!
Hosta rectifolia 'Chionea' (Japan, NR) [Parentage unknown] Different looking hosta has dark green leaves with a nice white edge. It's leaves are long and narrow, held very upright. Medium size clump. Purple flowers. Also thought to be the same hosta as H. Nakai.
Hosta Regal Chameleon

(Falstad, 2000) [Sport from Regal Splendor] Large leaves have creamy-white centers with green margins in spring, then later turns all green by summer. It is vase-shaped with tall pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Regal Promenade (Snyder, 1994) [Sport from Regal Splendor] Large blue-green leaves in spring with cream-streaking through-out it's leaves. Holds it's leaves in the Regal Splendor manner and clump will get 30" tall & wide, with pale lavender flowers on 4 foot scapes.

(Walters Gardens, 1987) [Sport from H. Krossa Regal] Talk about the hosta to end all hostas! Large bluish leaves bordered by a creamy yellow edge that changes to white as the season progresses. The very upright clump gets over 3 feet tall and nearly 4 feet across. Very Regal indeed. Light lavender flowers. One of THE best specimen plants. 2003 AHGA Hosta of the Year. What more can we say? GET IT!
Hosta Regal Splendor Streaked (?) [Sport from Regal Splendor] Very rare! A streaked form having all the same qualities of it's parent. We are watching this one with much excitement!
Hosta Reptilian (Sawyer, NR) [Parentage unknown] You want to talk interesting? This hosta has bluish cupped leaves with a nice piecrust edge, and on top of that it has red petioles. WOW. Gets about 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Very nice!
Hosta Rhapsody in Blue (Benedict/Wilkins, 1999) Intensely blue shiny leaves that have pretty waves. Clump gets a foot high and 30 inches wide. Beautiful lavender flowers. VERY nice specimen plant.
Hosta Richmond (Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Wide chartreuse leaves with a creamy white border. The center gets more green as the season progresses. Makes a medium size clump. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Richmond Streaked (Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Wide chartreuse leaves with a creamy white streaks through-out the plant. The center turns green as the season progresses but keeps it's streaks. Makes a medium size clump. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Rippled Honey (Benedict, NR) Fragrant [Parentage unknown] Very nice and shiny green leaves that have rippled edges. In midsummer you get the white fragrant flowers. Place this medium size hosta near a bench where you can enjoy its sweet smell.
Hosta Rising Sun (Vaughn, 1988) [H. Summer Fragrance hybrid x H. Aztec Treasure hybrid] Very interesting shiny gold hosta that gets 28 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Makes a bold statement in your shade garden. Early lavender flowers.
Hosta Rock Happy (Ruh, 1992) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. longipes] A nice clump this hosta has light green rippled leaves. The clump gets 15 inches tall and 17 inches wide. Pretty lavender flowers.
Hosta Rock Princess (Japan, NR) [Parentage unknown] A tight TINY little green hosta. Oh is it CUTE! 3 inches tall and only 8 inches across it makes a very tight clump. Cute lavender flowers. PERFECT for your fairy garden!
Hosta Rosedale Barnie (Hadrava, 1999) [H. ventricosa x H. Invincible] Roundish dark green leaves have a pointy tip. Clump gets 15 inches tall and three feet across. Very pretty Purple flowers in mid season.
Hosta Rosedale Genevieve (Hadrava, 1999) [H. Galaxy x H. Sum and Substance] These leaves are a nice golden yellow, very fresh looking. The clump gets 30 inches high and 52 inches wide. Near white flowers.
Hosta Royal Accolade (Zumbar, 1986) Fragrant [Sport from H. Royal Standard] Very interesting and different hosta. This has a creamy chartreuse center with a green edge. It has yellowish streaks in the center of the leaves. Medium size clump, with big white fragrant flowers!
Hosta Royal Standard (Grulleman/Wayside/AHS, 1986) Fragrant [H. plantaginea x H. sieboldiana] Gosh, you can not go wrong with this hosta. It's been around a long time, but it's a classic. Medium green glossy leaves on a clump that is 26 inches high and 63 inches wide. Big white crisp fragrant flowers!
Hosta Royal Tiara (T. & Z. Nursery/Zilis, 1988) [Sport from H. Jade Scepter] Royal indeed. Creamy white leaves with a yellowish green edge. The leaves seem in motion the way they twist and turn. Only get 8 inches high and 15 inches wide. Very interesting little hosta!
Hosta Sagae

(AHS, 1996) [Parentage unknown] One of if not the best variegated hostas of all time. Large blue green leaves with a pale yellow edge. Makes a breath-taking clump. 20 inches high and 26 inches wide with white flowers. Even if you did not love hostas (GASP!) get this one! 2000 AHGA Hosta of the Year & 1995 Alex J. Hosta Saint Elmo's Fire (Solberg, 1995) WOW, what spring color! Leaves emerges bright yellow with white edge. The centers of first leaves then fate to green. Clump gets 16 inches tall and two feet wide. Lavender flowers in mid summer. Definitely for the spring garden!
Hosta Salute (Benedict, 1995) [H. Dorset Blue F4 x H. Dorset Blue F4] Very upright with pointy blue leaves. They truly seem to salute you when you look at them! Clump gets 14 inches tall and 10 inches wide. Near white flower. VERY CUTE!
Hosta Samual Blue (Krossa/Ruh, 1981) [Parentage unknown] Deep blue leaves that are of thick substance. Clump gets 19 inches high and 19 inches tall. Very pretty! Lavender flowers
Hosta Satisfaction (Bridgewood Gardens/Wasitis, 2000) [Sport from H. Piedmont Gold] From our friend Chick Wasitis, this plant is amazing! Beautiful dark green leaves with a wide wavy yellow border. This one is a must for any hosta garden. Clump gets 2 feet tall and 50 inches wide, and topped with white flowers in summer. OUTSTANDING!
Hosta Savannah (Zilis/Suggs, 1999) Fragrant [Sport from a seedling] Fast good grower, this one has dark green shiny leaves with a creamy white edge. Makes a large clump that's 25 inches high and 60 inches wide. Wonderful fragrant lavender flowers. WOW!
Hosta Savannah Supreme

(?) Fragrant [Sport of Savannah] Like it's parent in size, this hosta has green leaves that are streaked with white throughout. Should make some interesting babies if you are a beginner breeder, give her a try. Wonderful fragrant lavender flowers.
Hosta Sea Beacon (Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Again Mildred named this one perfectly, green leaves with a wide white edge. Makes an outstanding medium sized clump, lavender flowers.
Hosta Sea Blue (Seaver, 1978) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Frances Williams] A rare hosta, this one from Mildred has blue green leaves. Clump gets 10 inches high and 23 inches wide. Pretty white flowers.
Hosta Sea Bunny (Seaver, 1986) [Parentage unknown] Interesting leaves that by mid summer the older leaves turn chartreuse while the newly emerged leaves are gold, giving an unusual two tone effect. Clump get a foot high and 16 inches wide, with white flowers
Hosta Sea Dream

(Seaver, 1984) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Neat Splash] Gold leaves with a creamy white edge. Mildred named this one right, what a dream! Clump gets a foot tall and 18 inches wide. Lavender flower contract beautifully with the leaves.
Hosta Sea Fire (Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Amazing spring color makes this hosta glow in it's spot! Yellow leaves change to a chartreuse color as the season progresses. Medium size clump with lavender flowers. Definitely worth the spring "fire"

Hosta Sea Gold Star (Seaver, 1984) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Wagon Wheels] Leaves are a pale chartreuse and have a great substance. Clump gets 12 inches tall and 20 inches wide with pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Sea Lotus Leaf (Seaver, 1985) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Wagon Wheels] Large blue green cupped leaves. Clump gets 19 inches tall and two feet wide. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Sea Mist (Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Makes a pretty clump with a greenish gold leave and a light green edge. Medium size clump with white flowers
Hosta Sea Yellow Sunrise (Seaver, 1985)[Sport from H. Sea Sunrise] Another one of Mildred's plants, this one with pretty yellow leaves. Small clump gets 8 inches tall and 15 inches wide. Pretty contrast to the lavender flowers.

Hosta September Sun

(Solberg, 1985) [Sport from H. August Moon] Bob Solberg has put out some interesting plants. The beauty takes more sun than most hostas will.. It has yellow leaves with a dark green edge. The clump gets 16 inches high and nearly 3 feet wide. Near white flowers.
Hosta Serendipity (Aden, 1978) [H. Blue Cadet x H. Tokudama] Blue green leaves that form a dense clump reaching 14 inches high and 18 inches wide. Very inexpensive and make a fine border for the shade garden. Deep lavender flowers.
Hosta Shade Fanfare (Aden, 1986) [Sport from H. Flamboyant] Light green leaves have a creamy white border. Forms a nice clump quickly reaching 14 inches high and 22 inches wide. A must for any shade garden. Light lavender flowers.
Hosta Sharp Shooter (Belle Gardens, 1993)[H. Sparten Gem hybrid This one comes to us from the late Nancy Krull of Belle Gardens. Green leaves make a great clump that is 12" tall and 25 inches wide. Great burgundy scapes with light Lavender flowers
Hosta Sherborne Swan (Smith/BHHS, 1988) [H. Tardiana grex] Eric Smith has some amazing plants he's introduced to the hosta world. This beauty has blue leaves on a clump that gets 17 inches high and 25 inches wide. Very pretty.
Hosta Shirley Vaughn (Vaughn, NR) [Parentage unknown] Shiny dark green leaves with a very white edge. Kevin Vaughn has contributed some amazing plants to the hosta world. This one will form a medium size clump and looks great planted in mass!
Hosta Shogun (Aden, NR) [Parentage unknown] Wow what a fast grower and beautiful specimen plant. Large blue green leaves with a white border. The leaves seem to cascade and form a large clump. Lavender flowers. Another great hosta from Paul Aden.
Hosta Showboat (Lachman, 1993) [H. Christmas Tree x H. seedling 81-9] A great hosta from the Lachman's breeding program this one has dark green leaves with a wide creamy white edge. This one will make a wonderful specimen plant. Clump gets 14 inches high and 28 inches wide. Lavender flowers
Hosta Silver Fox (Foglia, NR) [Sport of H. Ogon Koba] It's leaves are a bright gold with a cream margin and it is cute, cute, cute! Another great Fairy Garden plant or for the front of your border. Lavender flowers
Hosta Silvery Slugproof (Grenfell, 1996)[H. sieboldiana x H. Tardiflora] This one comes to us from England and our friend Diana Grenfell. As the name suggests, it is slug resistant. Leaves are a blue gray color with thick substance. Clump gets 16 inches tall and 40 inches wide. Lavender flowers

Hosta Slim Polly (Williams, 1986)[H. sieboldii x H. plantaginea] Small green leaves on this clump that only gets 6 inches high and 15 inches wide. Medium purple flowers
Hosta Smokey (Summers, NR) [a seedling from H. longipes Urajiro Hachijo] Another of Alex's dog series, this one has narrow leaves with beautiful white backs. A very RARE hosta, and touted as a great hybridizer's plant! Originators Stock
Hosta Snow Crust (T. & Z. Nursery/Zilis, 1985) [Sport from H. Fortunei Gigantea] Leaves are medium green with a wide white edge. Forms a nice size clump that reaches 30 inches tall and 66 inches wide. Very pretty planted in mass. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Snowden (Smith/BHHS, 1988) [H. Fortunei Aurea x H. sieboldiana] A fast growing large clump with blue green leaves that get dark green as season progresses. Very nice plant for back of border. Near white flowers.
Hosta So Sweet (Aden, 1986) Fragrant [H. Fragrant Bouquet x H. Aden 462] Shiny medium green leaves with a crisp white edge. Clump gets 14 inches tall and nearly 2 feet wide. Fragrant white flowers. 1996 AHGA Hosta of the Year
Hosta Something Blue (Simpers/Ruh, 1991)[H. Blue Beauty x H. Blue Boy] As the name suggests, blue green leaves form a beauty of a clump. !4 inches tall and 26 inches wide. Pale violet flowers. Beautiful spring color.
Hosta Something Different (Banyai, 1990) [Sport from H. Gold Standard] Long yellow centered leaves are bordered in a dark green edge. Should be an impressive medium sized clump Pale lavender flowers
Hosta Southern Comfort (Ruh, 1992) [Parentage unknown] Medium green leaves on a medium clump that gets 18 inches high and 20 inches wide. Great for bordering variegated hostas. Lavender flowers
Hosta Spilt Milk (Seaver, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Blue green leaves that are streaked with white. Very unique. Clump gets 20 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Near white flowers
Hosta Spinach Patch (Vaughn, NR) [Parentage unknown] Very dark green crinkled leave looking like a spinach patch! Medium t large hosta with near white flowers
Hosta Spotlight (Wilkins, 1995) [ H. Fort Knox x H. nigrescens Elatior] Large clump of wavy gold shiny leaves gets 20 inches tall and 50 inches wide. Lavender flowers
Hosta Standing Ovation (Vaughn, 1987) [H. Variegated hybrid x H. Goliath hybrid] Dark green leaves bordered in a creamy yellow edge. Clump is impressive at 28-34 inches tall and 30 inches wide. Pale lavender flowers
Hosta Stealth (Anderson?, NR) [Sport from H. Minuteman] An unstable streaked form of Minuteman from our friend Jim Anderson. Should prove to be an interesting plant for the breeding program!
Hosta Stiletto (Aden, 1987) [H. Amy Aden x H. pulchella variegated form] Another adorable hosta, this one has long narrow green wavy leaves that are bordered in white. The clump is only 6 inches tall and a foot wide. The fairies love this one! Lavender flowers
Hosta Striptease (Thompson, 1991) [Sport from H. Gold Standard] Very unique hosta, has dark green leaves with a chartreuse center strip that gets lighter as season progresses. Clump is 20 inches high and 3 feet wide. Pale violet flowers.
Hosta Sugar and Cream (Zilis, 1984) [Sport from H. Honeybells] Another fragrant hosta that's a classic. Dark green leaves with a creamy edge that often extends to the center of leaf. Clump is nearly 2 feet tall and over 4 feet wide. Flowers are near white and smell great!
Hosta Sugar Babe

(Solberg, 1996) Fragrant [H. Iron Gate Supreme x H. Saishu Jima] This is one of the best border plants in our garden. It's 10" high and 16" wide with VERY shiny green leaves and a creamy white edge. Lavender fragrant flowers. Catches everyone's attention in our garden.
Hosta Sum and Substance (Aden, 1980) [Parentage unknown] Not for shy gardens, this plant gets HUGE! Leaves are massive in a chartreuse gold color. Clump is 3 feet tall and well over 6 feet wide. Hosta Sum It Up (Zilis. 1999) [Sport from H. Sum and Substance] Huge shiny green leaves with a yellow edge. Very similar to H. Lady Isobel Barnett. Clump gets 32 inches tall and 80 inches wide. WOW! Medium lavender flowers.
Hosta Summer Fragrance (Vaughn, 1983) Fragrant [H. Vaughn 73-2 x H. plantaginea] A classic look in a hosta and fragrant too! Leaves are green bordered in creamy white. Clump gets 18 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Medium lavender flowers

Hosta Sun Drop (Banyai, 1999) [Sport from H. Gold Drop] Medium green leaves with a pale yellow border that extends towards center of leaf. Clump gets a foot tall and 18 inches wide. Beautiful in the front border. Light lavender flowers. Very cute!
Hosta Sun Power (Aden, 1986) [H. Aden 217 x H. Aden 219] Light chartreuse yellow leaves on a two foot high and three foot clump. Light lavender flowers.
Hosta Sundance (Walters Gardens, 1984) [Sport from H. Aoki] Dark green leaves are bordered by a creamy edge. Deep veins. Clump gets 16-22 inches high and two feet wide. Medium lavender flowers.
Hosta Sunny Delight (Solberg, 2000) Fragrant [H. Sweet Susan x H. Tokudama Aureonebulosa] Golden yellow leaves that are slightly wavy. Fragrant white flowers
Hosta Sunny Smiles (Ruh/Tompkins, 2001) [Parentage unknown] Light green to chartreuse leaves have a wide creamy white edge. Clump gets 3 feet wide and a foot high. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Sunshine Glory (Vaughn, 1982) [H. William Lachman x H. Golden Waffles] This large clump gets 2 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Leaves are a yellow chartreuse color with a beautiful white edge. Give it a little sun and lots of room. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Super Nova (Zilis, 1999)[ Sport from H. Aurora Borealis] What an amazing hosta! Golden yellow leaves are bordered by a blue green edge. This one is big, with the clump reaching 2 feet tall and 57 inches wide. Give it lots of room. It's a little slow to grow, but when it does, WOW! Near white flowers. A beautiful specimen plant.
Hosta Surprised By Joy (Malloy, 1998) [ H. Flamboyant x H. venusta] Oh my gosh this one is so cute! Tiny white leaves with a green streaked edge. Clump gets only 4 inches high and 8 inches wide. One of the more adorable mini's for the Fairy garden! Pale lavender flowers seem to float above the leaves, just like flying fairies!
Hosta Sweet Marjorie (Benedict. 1983) Fragrant [H. Ginko Craig x H. plantaginea] Medium green leaves on a clump that gets 12 inches high by 20 inches wide. Fragrant lavender flowers. Great for planting near a seat in your shade garden to enjoy the scent.
Hosta Sweet Susan (Williams/Williams, 1986) Fragrant [H. sieboldii x H. plantaginea] Shiny medium green leaves on a clump that gets 8 inches high by 30 inches wide. Fragrant lavender flowers
Hosta Sweet Tater Pie (Avent, 1995) [ H. Golden Scepter x H. yingerii] This hosta grows fast! Tony Avent, now famous for his fun names gives us this sweet 'thang'. Very thick medium gold wavy leaves that seem to glow in spring. Clump gets 10 inches high and 30 inches wide. Deep purple flowers.
Hosta Sweet Winifred (Benedict, 1984) Fragrant [A seedling whose pod parent is H. plantaginea] Slightly wavy medium green leaves. Clump gets 8 inches tall and 14 inches wide. Fragrant white flowers.
Hosta Sweetie (Aden, 1988) [H. Fragrant Bouquet x H. Fragrant Candelabra] Leaves start out chartreuse yellow and later turn green. Crisp white slightly wavy edge. Clump gets 20 inches high by 30 inches wide. Near white fragrant flowers. Give it a little sun.
Hosta Swirling Hearts

(Zilis, NR) [Parentage unknown] Uniquely swirled dark green large heart shaped leaves. Quite different. Lavender flowers. Makes a medium to large sized clump.
Hosta Swoosh (Aden, 1978) [H. Yellow Splash x H. Neat Splash] This streaked beauty has been used in many breeding programs. It's an inexpensive plant that allows people to have some fun growing seeds from. Green leaves are streaked with white and yellow. The small clump gets only 10 inches high and 13 inches wide. Lavender flowers
