Hosta Ogon Iwa (?) [Sport from H. longipes] The chartreuse version of it's Japanese parent, this hosta has long leaves that have an amazing color in spring. Combine that with the dark longipes petioles, and oo-la-la! Also known as longipes 'Aurea', which unfortunately is an illegal name per our local guru, the world renowned W. George Schmid Hosta okamotoi (species) [Parentage unknown] From Japan, the green leaves have an interesting purple petiole. A must have for any hosta collector who wants a species garden. Great addition to the future breeders out there! Hosta Okefenokee (Benedict, NR) This seldom offered hosta is a beauty. Yellowish center with a dark green edge. Clump will get nearly 4 feet wide and 22" tall. Pale Lavender flowers. Hosta Old Faithful (Brincka/Petryszyn, 1991) Fragrant [H. plantaginea x H. Regal Rhubarb] What an interesting vein pattern on this medium green leaf when the plant matures. Clump gets 23 inches high and 3 feet tall. Has red petioles and fragrant white flowers. Very nice! Hosta Olive Baily Langdon (Russ O'Harra HS/O'Harra, 1999) [Sport from H. sieboldiana] An improved version of H. Frances Williams, this hosta is something to behold. Dark blue green leaves with a wide gold edge. It commands your attention. Clump gets 28 inches tall and 72 inches wide, yes 6 FEET! Give it lots of room. Pure white flowers. WOW! Hosta Olympic Edger (Naylor Creek, 1999) [Sport of H. Gold Edger] From our friends Gary & Jack, the Boyz at Naylor, this hosta has greenish yellow leaves with a creamy white edge. Nice small clump that is 8 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Pale lavender flowers. Very Nice Hosta Opipara Koriyama see Koriyama Hosta pachyscapa (species) Every collector should have an area dedicated to the species where they can be studied and traits looked for in cultivars from them. This pretty large green clump has very heavy flower scapes with purple flowers. Hosta Pandora's Box (Hansen & Shady Oaks, 1996) [Sport from H. Baby Bunting] One of the most outstanding mini's to hit the market. Absolutely adorable! Each leaf is a work of art. Creamy white centers with dark green edges. The tiny clump gets 1.75 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide. A Fairy Garden must have! Pretty purple flowers in late spring. Cute, cute cute! Hosta Paradigm (Walden-West, 1999) [Sport from H. Abiqua Recluse] What a beauty! Greenish gold shiny leaves with a dark green edge. It's an outstanding grower for us. Clump reaches 20 inches tall and 45 inches wide. Lavender Flowers. The color on this one gets better and better as the season progresses. Hosta Paradise Joyce (Fransen, NR) Patented [Sport from H. Halcyon] Breathtaking hosta! Has a yellow center that turns white-yellow as the season progresses. The edge is a beautiful blue. Great color combo. Forms a medium size clump. A must have! Hosta Paradise Power (Fransen, NR) Patented [Sport from H. Sun Power] Makes a big clump nearly 4 feet wide. Gold leaves are bordered in a dark green edge. Beautiful planted in mass or as a single specimen. Hosta Parhelion (Walters Gardens, 1997) [Sport from H. Sum and Substance] Chartreuse leaves with a creamy white edge. This one is a HUGE clump getting 3 feet tall and 60 inches wide. Give it lots of room! Lavender flowers on very tall scapes. Hosta Parky's Prize (Hawes, 1999)[Sport from H. Birchwood Parky's Gold] Leaves are blue green with a greenish yellow border. Forms a small clump, perfect for a border. Pale Lavender flowers. A really beautiful Hosta! Hosta Patriot (Machen, 1991) [Sport from H. Francee] Nice dark green thick leaves with an extra wide white margin. Clump gets a foot tall and 30 inches wide. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful variegated hostas there are. Commands your attention. 1997 AHGA Hosta of the Year Hosta Patriot's Fire (Walek/Summers, 1996) [Sport from H. Patriot] Greenish gold leaves with a pure white edge. Clump gets 18 inches tall and 32 inches wide. This hosta is constantly changing in the garden. It's an interesting hosta to study. Lavender flowers. Hosta Paul Revere (Zilis, NR) [ Sport from H. Patriot] White leaves with a nice wide green edge. Smaller than it's parent due to the white centers. Supposed to be similar to H. Loyalist, but we find this one to be a better grower. Lavender flowers. Hosta Paul's Glory (Ruh/Hofer, 1987) [Sport from H. Perry's True Blue] OK, we know we have said this before, but this is one of our favorite growers here at Faewood. Nice yellow leaves with a dark blue-green edge. In more light, the center turns creamy colored. Clump gets 17 inches tall and over two feet wide. It brightens any garden and is a stunning plant and a good grower! Pale lavender flowers. Hosta Peace (Aden, 1987) [H. Blue Hugger x H. Love Pat] An adorable little hosta with blue green leaves with a nice white edge. Clump gets only 5 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Great for the front of the border! Lavender flowers. Hosta Pearl Lake (Piedmont Gardens, 1982) [Parentage unknown] Beautiful heart shaped medium green leaves. Makes a great border plant. Clump reaches only 15 inches high and 36 inches wide. Light lavender flowers in summer. 1982 Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Hosta Hosta Pete's Passion (P. Ruh, 1997) [Sport of H. Paul's Glory] Another one of Lu's favorite hostas. Leaves are a yellow-gold with a blue green edge and streaks of blue green in center of leaf. Clump gets 2 feet tall and 41 inches wide. Lavender flowers. Hosta Phantom (Wilkins/Solberg, 1995) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Riptide] In Spring this hosta has green leaves with a waxy look to them. Later it takes on a grey green look. It's petioles are a purplish color. Clump gets 18 inches tall and nearly 3 feet wide. Medium lavender flowers. Hosta Piecrust Power (Aden, NR) [Parentage unknown] Large pretty green leaves have a nice piecrust edge. Make a big clump that is 2 feet tall and four feed wide. Pretty light and pale lavender flowers Hosta Piedmont Gold (Payne, 1982) [Parentage unknown] Wow, wow, WOW! Deep yellow slightly wavy leaves that have deep veins and some puckering to them. Lights up a dark area of your garden. Clump is two feet tall and three feet across. Makes an absolute stunning mature clump or mass planting. It's been around a while but still one of the best yellows around. Lavender flowers. Hosta Pineapple Upsidedown Cake (Zilis/Solberg, 1999) [Sport from H. Pineapple Poll] This is one wild hosta that is always dancing in our garden, it has lance-shaped leaves with goldish centers and blue-green edges then, the center becomes white in more heat and light. Clump gets 20" high and 60" wide. Always gets attention in our garden. Hosta plantaginea (species) Fragrant [Parentage unknown] The mother of all fragrant hosts, this hosta forms a nice full shiny green clump that gets 25 inches tall and over 4 feet wide. We give it sun and plenty of water here at Faewood and it rewards us with beautiful big white wonderful smelling flowers! Hosta Pooh Bear (Falstad, 1988) [Sport from H. Gold Drop] What a cutie! Bright golden leaves surrounded by a nice greenish edge. The clump only gets 6 inches tall and under a foot wide. Perfect for your Fairy garden! Lavender flowers come early in the season. Hosta Popo (O'Harra, 1993) [Parentage Unknown] Another mini, this one with tiny blue-green heart shaped leaves. The clump gets 5 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Just perfect for your shade border. Lavender flowers float above the foliage. Cute! Hosta Potomac Pride (Avent, 1995) [H. yingerii x H. Blue Umbrellas] Very Shiny, very dark green leaves on a full clump that gets 28 inches tall and four feet wide. Perfect to plant with your yellow hosta! Grows really well. Lavender flowers. Hosta Prairie Land Memories (Q. & Z. Nursery, NR) Fragrant [Sport from H. Royal Standard] Slightly wavy glossy gold leaves. A fast growing clump that gets 4 feet wide. Like it's parent it produces wonderful fragrant white flowers. Hosta Prima Donna (Wilkins, 1995) [Sport from H. William Lachman seedling] Dark green leaves with a yellow edge that changes to a creamy white as the season progresses. Jim outdid himself on this beauty. The clump gets 21 inches tall and 56 inches wide. She holds her leaf up and out for everyone to admire, like a true Prima Donna! Pale lavender flowers. Hosta Purple Bouquet (Banyai, 1986) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. nakaimo] Dark green leaves on a nice full clump that reaches 14 inches high and 20 inches wide. Makes a good border plant, especially when it's in bloom with it's gorgeous purple flowers! Hosta Purple Lady Finger (Savory, 1982) [H. longissima x H. clausa] Dark green leaves on a very upright clump, only gets 15 inches tall and 20 inches wide. Very interesting hosta that has the thin squiggly leaves of longissima and the purple flowers that like clausa, do not open. Really neat looking! Hosta Queen Josephine (Kuk, 1991) [Sport from H. Josephine] This is one of Dan's favorites, dark green shiny leaves with a nice wide creamy yellow edge. Clump gets 13 inches high and 17 inches wide. Pretty purple flowers in mid season. She makes a very elegant specimen! Hosta Queen of Islip (Goffery, 1990) [Sport from H. Frances Williams] Just the opposite of her parent, this hosta has wonderful light yellow centers with a nice blue green margin. Same crinkled look to it's huge leaves. Clump gets 27 inches high and nearly 3 feet across. Makes a stunning statement! White flowers. Hosta Quilted Hearts (Soules, 1989) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. sieboldiana] Dark green round leaves are very crinkled. Makes a nice clump getting 20 inches tall and nearly 4 feet across. Wonderful planted with your yellow hostas! Pale lavender flowers. Hosta Quill (Herold, NR) Narrow wavy green leaves is where this cutie gets it's name. This one sits in the front of the border and gets lots of attention, and is also great in a Fairy Garden. Lavender flowers. Hosta Quilting Bee (Russ O'Harra HS/O'Harra, 1999) [Parentage unknown] A nice little hosta with dark green leaves that are very crinkled & puckered. Clump gets 9 inches tall and 26 inches wide. Lavender flowers in midsummer.
