Variety Description
Hosta Kii Hime (Japan, NR) [Parentage unknown] Said to be the smallest hosta in existence. It's green leaves are tiny, tiny, tiny! Talk about the perfect plant for a Fairy Garden! Pretty lavender flowers float high above the foliage. Hime means tiny in Japanese, this one is found on the Kii Peninsula, the southernmost extension of the main island of Honshu. Clump gets 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Give this tiny beauty a special place!
Hosta kikutii (Species) Long slender leaves that sometimes has a slightly wavy edge. Great hosta to plant among the variegated plants in your garden. Nice contrast to heart shaped leaves. Very pretty & unique lavender flowers.
Hosta kikutii leuconota (Japan, NR) Another great green hosta with long narrow and shiny leaves. The leaves have a pretty white back and are often slightly wavy. Forms a medium size clump. Lavender Flowers.
Hosta kikutii yakusimensis (species) A great green hosta with long narrow and pointy leaves. The leaves are often slightly wavy and have a nice cascading effect. Forms a medium size clump. Lavender Flowers late in the season.
Hosta Kinba (Watanabe, NR) [Parentage Unknown] This is one amazing plant in Spring! It emerges with bright yellow leaves and very bright red petioles. Oo-la-la! As the season progresses the leaves turn green, but when it's sends up it's flower stalks, you again see the great red color, then lavender flowers. Stunning!
Hosta Kinbotan (Japan/Gowan, NR) Yet another Cutie for the Fairy garden. This tiny hosta had dark green leaves with the slightest of yellow edges. Lavender flowers on thin stalks. ADORABLE!
Hosta King James (Ruh/Krossa, 1992) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. montana] WOW! Huge medium gray green leaves make this a great hosta for the back of your hosta beds. The clump gets 27 inches high and nearly 5 feet across! HUGE! Great as a specimen plant. Pale lavender flowers top this one off.
Hosta King Michael (Ruh/Krossa, 1992) [H. montana form] One of the favorite Giant hostas, this one gets huge! Graceful medium green leaves, this clump gets 33 inches tall and 47 inches wide. Give it lots of room! White flowers.
Hosta King Tut (Harshbarger, 1981) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Tokudama Aureonebulosa] Great substance on this beauty, with chartreuse heart shaped leaves. Clump gets 11 inches tall and 26 inches wide. Beautiful spring color! Light lavender flowers.
Hosta Kisuji (Inaho/Japan, NR) Formerly H. tardiva aurea striata. Lance-shaped, yellow green leaves streaked with darker green. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Knockout (Aden, 1986) [Parentage unknown] A bit of a slow grower, but as the name suggests, a real beauty. It's leaves are a blue green color with a very wide creamy yellow edge. Stunning! Makes a medium size clump with pale lavender flowers!
Hosta Ko Mame (Gowen/Japan, NR) This small hosta has shiny dark green leaves with a slight wave to them, and with creamy edges. Makes a neat small clump.

Hosta Komodo Dragon

(Seaver, NR) [Parentage unknown] Another one of our favorites here at Faewood, this is one spectacular dark green hosta! Needs LOTS of room. Gets 28 inches tall and 6 feet wide! WOW! Has huge leaves and forms a massive upright hosta! The leaves have a nice loose piecrust edge. White flowers.
Hosta Koriyama (Japan, NR) [Parentage unknown] The leaves are narrow and wavy dark green surrounded by a wide creamy edge that comes up gold in the early spring. Forms a nice medium size full clump. Midsummer dark lavender flowers. Very nice!
Hosta Krossa Regal (Krossa/Krossa, 1980) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. nigrescens] Another of the great Giants! This one has beautiful blue gray leaves that have a nice wave to them. Forms a very upright clump that is 3 feet by 3 feet. Flowers are an orchid lavender color. A favorite amongst many growers! Makes a great specimen plant or a breath taking mass planting.
Hosta Krossa Regal Streaked (?) [Sport of Krossa Regal] A highly sought after streaked form of Krossa Regal. Very rare! Same beautiful qualities as it's parent only this time with creamy streaks throughout the leaf. Stunning!
Hosta Lacy Belle (Lachman, 1992) [Neat Splash seedling x H. Halcyon] Leaves are a medium blue-green with a wavy creamy-white edge. Clump gets a foot high and nearly 2 feet across. Nice, neat habit. Flowers are a pretty lavender a little dark than most.
Hosta Lakeport Blue (Tompkins. 1994) [H. Elegans form] Forms a huge clump of blue-green leaves measuring 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Very blue in spring. Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Accolade (Chastain, 1988) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Little Aurora] A cute one from Mary Chastain this dark green hosta gets a foot high and 18 inches wide. Great planted near gold hostas. Light lavender flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Black Satin (Chastain, 1993) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. ventricosa] Leaves are shiny dark green color and heart shaped. Clump gets 9 inches tall and 22 inches wide. Deep purple flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Delight (Chastain, 1994) [Parentage Unknown] A great spring color on this one from Mary, it's leaves are a yellow-gold color. Clump gets 16 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Very nice and will take some sun. White flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Lollipop (Chastain, 1993) [Parentage unknown] The round leaves give this hosta it's name. Very dark green leaves on an upright clump resemble a bowl of lollipops. Clump get 8 inches tall and 16 inches wide. Great for the front of the border. White flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Mom (Chastain, 1999) [cross from Mary's seedlings] A nice breeder plant. Green and white streaks throughout the leaves. Clump gets 18 inches tall and 3 feet wide.
Hosta Lakeside Premier

(Chastain, 1994) [Parentage unknown] A nice dense clump of dark green leaves with a creamy white edge. This hosta gets 17 inches tall and 28 inches wide. Near white flowers.
Hosta Lakeside Spellbinder (Chastain, 1997) [Parentage unknown] Medium fast growing due to its white centered leaves, with a pretty wide green edge. Not as slow as other white centered plants. Clump gets 8 inches tall and 30" wide.
Hosta Lavender Doll

(H. Sugita/P. Ruh, 1998) [H. kiyosumiensis x H. pycnophylla] Quickly climbing the list of Lu's favorite hostas, this plant is amazing. It has light green leaves that are slightly twisted. In our garden, the wind catches it's large leaves and flips them over, exposing the white undersides. Gorgeous! . The clump will get 22 inches tall and 40 inches wide. It holds it lavender flowers just above the leaves at an angel and it so pretty when in flower. Gosh can you tell Lu loves this baby?
Hosta Leading Lady (Wilkins, 1995) [Sport from H. William Lachman seedling] Yet another of the favorites here at Faewood, this upright hosta has dark green thick leaves with a wide golden edge. It's edge gets creamer as the season progresses. The clump will get 23 inches tall and 40 inches wide. Very nice hosta from the Wilkins'. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Leather Sheen (Zilis/Lohman, 1988) [H. Sum and Substance x H. venusta] What a strange combination of parents, but it's produced an interesting offspring. Shiny very dark pointy leaves on a clump that only gets 15 inches tall and 30 inches wide. Hard to believe Sum and Substance could produce anything this small? Good substance and pretty bright lavender flowers
Hosta Lemon Chiffon (Banyai, 1988) [Parentage Unknown] A nice yellow hosta that looks good enough to eat! This clump gets over 3 feet tall and as wide. The leaves have a slight wave to them. Greenish veins give the leaves interest. Lavender flowers. Nice!
Hosta Lemon Meringue (Ruh, 1991) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. hypoleuca] Another one good enough to eat! Light yellow leaves with pure white backs, just like the pie! The clump gets 19 inches tall and 27 inches wide. Pretty white flowers. Yummy!
Hosta Leola Fraim

(Lachman, 1986) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Swoosh] A popular hosta with visitors to our garden. Medium dark green leaves surrounded by a wide white edge. Clumps get nearly a foot high and 18 inches wide. Makes a nice clump and grows fairly quickly Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Leviathan (Nesmith/AHS, 1986) [H. Fortunei Gigantea x H. Blue Frost] Medium to dark green leaves that are very shiny and have a slightly piecrusted edge. Grows quickly into a nice medium/large sized clump. Flowers are pale lavender.
Hosta Lime Krinkles (Soules, 1988) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Tokudama] As the name suggests, this hosta has chartreuse green leaves that are very crinkled. Clump gets 18-20 inches tall and nearly 3 feet around. White flowers. Nice!
Hosta Lime Piecrust (Lachman, 1990) [Parentage unknown] Chartreuse leaves that have a great piecrusted edge that gets better and better as the plant matures. Forms a nice clump measuring 17 inches tall and 40 inches wide. The leaves have an interesting twist at their tips. Very pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Limey Lisa

(Zumbar, NR) [Parentage Unknown] This is a great lime colored little hosta! Makes a nice little clump and grows quickly. Wonderful for the front of the borders or for your Fairy garden. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Little Black Scape (Avent, 1995) [A seedling who's pod parent is H. Sum and Substance] The leaves on this one are a dark gold to green color when they emerge, but will lighten to chartreuse as the season progresses. Clump is 10 inches tall and 2 feet wide. The real show begins when it sets flowers and the scapes appear. The are a jet black color. WOW! Lavender flowers top it off. What a color combination with it's leaves!
Hosta Little Blue (Englerth, 1976) [Parentage unknown] Not real sure how this one got it's name. It is neither blue, nor little. It does however have very dark green shiny leaves. Clump gets a foot high and nearly 2 feet wide. The real show is when it flowers. Has beautiful purple blooms! Worth it for the flowers alone!
Hosta Little Jim (Benedict, 1986) [Parentage unknown] Narrow upright streaked leaves. This hosta is very unstable, however it is supposed to be a good breeder plant. Clump is small at 6 inches tall and as wide. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Little Slam (Benedict, NR) [Parentage Unknown] A very rare hosta, look for a full description soon! Currently being evaluated here at the nursery.
Hosta Little Sunspot (Briggs Nursery, 1996) [Sport from H. Little Aurora] Put this one near the top of our favorites list! What a great little hosta. Medium gold leaves with a wide dark to medium green edge. Grows very quickly! Our fairies love it! The clump gets only 5 inches tall and almost a foot wide. Great for the front of your border, or in a container! Very CUTE!
Hosta Little White Lines (Zilis, 1988) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. venusta] Medium green little leaves with a thin white edge that often bleeds into the center. What a cutie! The clump only gets 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Great for the front of the border or your very own fairy garden! Purple flowers.
Hosta Little Wonder (Lachman, 1989) [Parentage unknown] Ok, we are in the little section of our catalog, so do we need to tell you that this one is great for your fairy garden? Well, it is! Dark green leaves with a thin creamy white edge. Makes a full clump that's only 5 inches tall and a foot wide. Absolutely stunning planted as a long border for your hosta beds.
Hosta Locomotion

(Belle Gardens, 1993) [H. Crested Surf x H. Bold Ruffles] Consistently the very first hosta to emerge every spring here at Faewood, talk about a sight for sore winter-worn eyes! Beautiful blue green leaves with dark petioles and white backs. I can't help but smile whenever I pass it, remembering the excitement to see it in early spring. Great substance.

Hosta Love Pat (Aden, 1978) [H. Blue Velvet x H. Blue Vision] A very crinkled cupped hosta. It's leaves are an intense blue color in spring, and dark green the remainder of the season. Heavy substance! Pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Loyalist (Falstad/Van Eijk-Bos, 1998) [Sport from H. Patriot] The opposite of it's parent, this is one amazing Hosta. Creamy white leaves surrounded by a wide blue to dark green edge. Thick wonderful leaves with creamy white petioles. A truly spectacular hosta. Pale lavender flowers on white stems. A very slow grower, as are most white centered hostas.
Hosta Lucy Vitols (Seaver, 1989) [Parentage unknown] Another stunning Hosta, this one with bright yellow green leaves surrounded by a dark green edge. In more sun, the center gets lighter and lighter. Clump reaches 10 inches tall and a foot and a half wide. Pale lavender flowers. Stunning!
Hosta Lunar Magic (Lydell, 1994) [Sport of H. Lunar Orbit] From Ran Lydell we have a yellow leaf with a dark green edge. When it emerges the center is more green, but intensifies as Spring progresses. The clump gets 16 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Makes a great specimen plant. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Lunar Orbit (Lydell, 1991) [Sport from H. August Moon] Greenish gold leaves bordered by a wide dark green edge. Clump gets a foot high and 30 inches tall. Makes a great specimen plant. Lavender flowers in mid summer.
