Variety Description
Hosta Abba Dabba Do (Avent, 1998) [Sport from H. Sun Power] This hosta has medium green leaves with a golden yellow edge. The plant can grow to 2 feet tall and over 5 feet wide. It's a great grower for us and has pale lavender flowers in early summer. Tolerates some sun.
Hosta Abby (Ruh, 1990) [Sport from H. Gold Drop] Dark green leaves bordered in yellow to chartreuse. This plant forms a small clump and makes a terrific border plant. Clump 7 inches high and 16-18 inches wide.
Hosta Abiqua Blue Crinkles (Walden-West, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Forms a nice blue-green clump quickly. 28 inches wide by 48 inches across. Limited Supply
Hosta Abiqua Blue Madonna (Walden-West, 1988) [Parentage unknown] Quick grower, this clump has blue-green leaves. Grows 11 inches high by 30 inches wide. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Abiqua Delight (Walden-West, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Clump has dark green leaves that are bordered in gold to creamy white. It reaches a foot high by two feet wide. Purple flowers
Hosta Abiqua Gold Shield (Walden-West, 1987) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. White Vision] Leaves are a yellow color with greenish undertones. Clump gets about 18 inches high and nearly 4 foot across. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Abiqua Miniature (Walden-West, 1988) [Parentage unknown] Small emerald green clump only reaches about 3-4 inches high and 7-8 inches across. Mini for the Fairy garden! Pale Lavender flowers
Hosta Academy Fire (Chamberlain, 1997) [Sport from H. Francee] Leaves are a light green with a creamy white margin. Clump reaches 16 inches tall and 3 feet wide. Give it partial sun and the leaves lighten up considerably. Pale Lavender flowers
Hosta Academy Flora (Chamberlain, 1999) [Parentage unknown] Leaves are a medium green. Clump grows quickly to a foot high and two feed wide. Many pale lavender flowers form in early summer.
Hosta Academy Muse (Chamberlain, 1997) [Parentage unknown] Interesting medium green leaves with a dark green edge. Clump gets 15 inches tall and nearly 3 feet wide. Give this one a little sun and the leaves turn a goldish color. Pretty with flowers that are near white in color.
Hosta Alex Summers (Santa Lucia, 1989) [Sport from H. Gold Regal] Outstanding plant named for the founder of the AHS. Leaves are a medium green that is surrounded by a wide chartreuse edge. Clump is 20 inches tall and over 2 feet wide. Lavender flowers. Grows like no other hosta we've seen. Truly outstanding!
Hosta Allan P. McConnell (Seaver, 1980) [Parentage unknown] Small dark green leaves with a white edge makes a great edging plant for a path or perennial border. Clump get 8 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Purple flowers.
Hosta Allegan Fog (Ruh/Herrema, 2000) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Fortunei Aurea] Unusual plant with greenish white center leaf is speckled with green flecks with a dark green edge. Clump gets 13 inches tall and over 18 inches wide. A mature clump is something to behold!
Hosta Alpine Aire

(Minks, 1980) [H. August Moon x H. Ogon Koba] Chartreuse cupped leaves turn gold with more sun, greenish in shade. Clump is 20 inches high and 2 feet wide. White flowers

Hosta American Dream (Wade, 1999) [Sport from H. High Fat Cream] Leaves are a greenish yellow with a white edge. Clump gets 2 feet high and over 3 feet wide. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Ani Machi

("Geisha" Vaughn, 1983 (Japan)) [Parentage unknown] This hosta was formerly known as Geisha, with yellow to chartreuse centers and dark green edges on shiny small leaves. Clump is 6.5-7 inches high and a foot wide. Lavender flowers. Outstanding clump!
Hosta Antioch (Rue/Hofer, 1979) [Sport from a H. Fortunei Hybrid] This hosta forms a tremendous mound over 4 feet wide and nearly two feet tall. Cascading leaves are green with a whitish yellow edge. An older classic, and a MUST have. Lavender flowers. 1984 Alex J. Summers Distinguished Merit Hosta
Hosta Aqua Velva (Vaughn, 1983) Fragrant [(H. Polly Bishop x H. Blue Lace) x H. Summer Fragrance] Leaves are blue green and makes a huge clump over 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Tall bloom scape produce fragrant lavender flowers.
Hosta Artist's Palette (Kuk's Forest, 1986) [A seedling whose pod parent is Neat Splash] Bob Kuk brings us this interesting breeder plant. The green leaves have a white margin and are streaked with cream white and pale yellow. Plant registered at 3 inches high and 4 inches wide. Flowers are purple and fertile. Should make interesting babies.
Hosta August Moon (Ruh/Langfelder, 1996) [Parentage unknown] One of the biggest producer of sports, this hosta is a classic. A big clump over 2 feet tall and nearly 4 feet wide, it has yellow-gold leaves and will take some sun. Pale Lavender flowers. Mature plants will glow in your landscape.
Hosta Aurora Borealis (Wayside Gardens, 1986) [Sport from H. Frances Williams] Looks like Francis Williams but is touted to be larger and not burn as much. Blue green large leaves bordered in gold. Makes a very large clump over 2 feet tall and over 3 feet wide. White flowers
Hosta Austin Dickinson (Lachman, 1992) Fragrant [H. Resonance x H. plantaginea] Medium green leaves with pure white edges make for a beauty of a clump. Grows quickly to a 16 inches high and 2 feet wide. Lavender stripped flowers are late and so pretty and fragrant too! Wow!
Hosta Azure Snow (Ruh, 1991) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. hypoleuca] Cascading leave start out bluish and turn green, have white undersides. Clump is 15 inches high and nearly 3 feet wide, topped with lavender flowers. Nice specimen plant.
Hosta Bennie McRae (Suggs, 1989) Fragrant [A seedling whose pod parent is H. plantaginea] Medium green leaves on a fairly large clump that is 2 feet high and nearly 3 feet wide. Great background plant with very fragrant Lavender flowers.
Hosta Betcher's Blue (AHS, 1986) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Tokudama] Leaves are a beautiful bluish green of thick substance. The leaves later turn dark green. The clump is over 2 feet wide and 1 foot tall. Early pale lavender flowers.
Hosta Betsy King (AHS, 1986) [Parentage unknown] Shiny medium green leaves on a medium sized upright clump 16 high and 2 feet wide. When in flower, it's a show stopper with its deep purple striped flowers.
Hosta Big Daddy (Aden, 1976) [Sport from H. robusta variegated] Although a slow grower, this plant is worth the wait. Beautiful blue crinkled leaves for a big clump over 2 feet tall and over 4 wide older clumps reaching 5 feet in diameter! Wow! White flowers early.
Hosta Birchwood Elegance (Shaw/AHS, 1986) [H. sieboldiana x H. FRW No. 382] Another huge clump with very large dark green leaves. Clump gets nearly 3 feet tall and over 77 inches wide. Give this one lots of room to grow. Pretty white flowers. Sure to make a statement!
Hosta Birchwood Ruffled Queen (Shaw/AHS, 1986) [A seedling whose pod parent is H. Green Piecrust] Medium to dark green leaves that ruffle on the edges make this a beautiful clump that is 2 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Bitsy Gold (R. Savory, 1985) [H. longissima x H. yellow seedling] Cute little gold clump perfect for the Fairy garden. Yellow pointed ruffled leaves on a 6 inch tall and 12-18 inch wide clump. Late lavender flowers. CUTE!
Hosta Blond Elf (Aden, NR) [Sport from H. Fresh] Yellowish to pale gold leaves on this small clump make for a great border plant. Clump is 7-8 inches high and less than 2 feet wide. Color gets paler in more light. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Blue Angel (Aden, 1986) [H. Aden 365 x H. Aden 361] This is a popular huge blue. Give it some room as it gets 3 feet tall and nearly 5 feet wide. Comes up a pretty shade of blue with it's wax coating (bloom) and gets darker as the season progresses. White Flowers
Hosta Blue Arrow (Anderson, 1982) [Parentage unknown] Narrow arrowhead shaped blue leaves, on quite the upright plant. Clump is 18" x 24" wide. White flowers Very pretty specimen plant.
Hosta Blue Belle (Smith/BHHS, 1988) [H. Tardiana grex] From Eric Smith comes one of his many blues for Tardiana parentage. Heavy substance blue green leaves on a rounded clump that 16 inches high and nearly 2 feet across. Lavender flowers. Pretty with gold hostas.
Hosta Blue Betty Lou (Owens, 1987) [H. True Blue x H. Gold Regal] Beautiful spring blue leaves that are nicely cupped and softly wavy. Clump gets 25 inches high and 32 inches wide, and turns dark green as season progresses. A beautiful specimen for your garden. Lavender flower
Hosta Blue Blazes Streaked (Anderson, NR) [Sport from H. Blue Blazes] From the tissue culture labs at Jim Anderson's comes this streaked sport. The parent gets 30 inches tall and 4 feet wide. Blue leaves with gold streaks. Lavender flowers. Should be a great breeder plant
Hosta Blue Boy (Stone/AHS, 1986) [H. nakaiana x H. sieboldiana] Low mound reaching only 19 inches tall but nearly 4 feet wide. Leaves are blue green and get dark green later in season. Leaves lay perfectly on this plant, like dropped in fall. Pretty! Lavender Flowers
Hosta Blue Dome (Minks, 1980) [H. Tokudama x H. Tokudama] Leaves are a silvery blue and slightly cupped. The substance makes them almost slug-proof. Clump is 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide with white flowers.
Hosta Blue Hearts (Benedict, NR) [Parentage unknown] Little is known about this unregistered Benedict plant. Leaves are blue green and cupped and crinkled. Makes a medium to large clump.
Hosta Blue Jay (Benedict, 1987) [Dorset Blue x Dorset Blue] Powdery blue leaves on this small clump, which reaches only 8 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Great for a border plant or planted with other small hostas. Pale lavender flowers
Hosta Blue Plate Special (Seaver, NR) [Parentage is unknown] Leaves are a rich blue green with tons of substance. Will form a medium size clump with early white flowers.
Hosta Blue Shadows (Anderson, 1980) [Sport from Tokudama Aureonebulosa] This is one of the most unique plants we've seen. Leaves are a blend of blue and gold and are outstanding. Slow but well worth it. Clump gets 14 inches tall and 2 feet wide. Near white flowers.
Hosta Blue Sophistication (Zilis, NR) [Sport from H. Lakeside Sophistication] Fast growing all blue sport from Mary's Lakeside Sophistication. Medium clump about a foot tall and less than two feet wide. Pale lavender flowers
Hosta Blue Umbrellas (Aden, 1978) [H. Tokudama x H. Elegans] Blue leaves on this big clump reaching 3 feet tall and well over 4 feet tall. Give this one some room, and shade and it will reward you with it's grandeur. Great background plant. Nearly white to lavender flowers
Hosta Blue Velvet (Aden, 1976) [H. Tokudama hybrid x H. Tokudama hybrid] Rich very dark blue leaves that are cupped and crinkled give this clump a distinguished look. Will get 22 inches high and 30 inches wide. White flowers are held close to clump. Beautiful!
Hosta Blue Vision (Aden, 1976) [H. Aden 355 x H. Aden 353] Large blue green leaves are cupped and crinkled. Clump is more upright getting over 2 feet tall and nearly 3 feet wide. White flowers. Plant with golds or gold and blues. Stunning.
Hosta Blue Wedgwood (Smith/BHHS, 1988) [H. Tardiana grex] Eric gives us another outstanding blue, this one with wedge shaped leaves. Clump is about 14 inches tall and nearly 2 feet wide. Beautiful lavender flowers. Makes a beautiful specimen plant or a mass planting.
Hosta Blythe Spirit (Davidson/Schenk/Ruh, 1990) [Parentage unknown] Comes to us from Japan, this blue green clump is 10 inches tall and 16-18 wide. Pretty pinkish-lavender flowers.
Hosta Bobbie Sue (Owens, 1994) [Sport from H. Marbled White] Dark green leaves are surrounded by a wide and slightly wavy white edge. Outstanding looking plant in the garden. Clump is nearly 16-18 inches tall and nearly 4 feet wide. Lavender flowers. A MUST have!
Hosta Bold Edger (Vaughn, 1983) [H. Beatrice x H. Frances Williams] Dark green leaves with a creamy white edge for a very nice clump. Much larger than the registration shows, we believe it's about 16 inches tall and a foot and a half wide. Lavender flowers
Hosta Bold Ribbons (Aden, 1976) [Parentage unknown] Long strappy green leaves with a white edge makes this a pretty cascading clump that 12-14 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Bold Ribbons Streaked [Sport from H. Bold Ribbons] Origin is unknown but what a pretty hosta! The parent gets 16 inches tall and 18 inches wide. The long strappy leaves on this one are green, streaked with white through-out the leaves. Unstable. Lavender flowers.
Hosta Bottom Line (Anderson, NR) [Sport of H. Sum and Substance] Looks like H. Lady Isobel Barnett and H. Sum it up, with chartreuse to green leaves bordered with a gold edge. The edge is supposed to get wider. This one needs lots of room to grow as it is expected to get HUGE!
Hosta Brave Amherst (Lachman, 1993) [H. Christmas Tree x H. Reversed] Leaves are Dark green leaves with wide creamy-white edge that is slightly rippled. Makes a nice mound 18 inches tall and over 2 feet wide. Near white flowers
Hosta Breeders Choice (Vaughn/Seaver, NR) [Sport of H. Breeders Choice] This is the hosta being sold today by most nurseries, but it is the stable form of the REAL Breeders Choice listed below. Makes a fantastic clump with green centered leaves and a pretty white edge. Otherwise same size and flowers as parent listed below.
Hosta Breeders Choice streaked (Vaughn/Seaver, NR) [H. Beatrice x H. Frances Williams] You will have to work to keep this unstable breeder streaked, but well worth it. Leaves are streaked green, white and some yellow. Clump will get a foot tall and 16 inches wide. Fertile Lavender flowers
Hosta Brigham Blue (Van Bourgondien, NR) [Parentage unknown] Thought to be from sieboldiana this blue green plant has heart shaped leaves and forms a medium size clump. White flowers
Hosta Bright Lights (Aden/Klehm, NR) [A seedling whose pod parent is a H. Tokudama Aureonebulosa] Registered as a seedling but thought to be a sport, this beauty has yellow leaves surrounded by a blue green margin. A fast growing Medium/large clump. White flowers Outstanding!
Hosta Brim Cup (Aden, 1986) [H. Aden 392 x H. Wide Brim] Medium to dark green leaves with a very wide white margin. Makes an outstanding clump that is a foot tall and 16-18 wide. Slow grower. Pale lavender to white flowers.
Hosta Brother Ronald (Smith/BHHS, 1988) [H. Tardiana grex] One of Dan's favorites, a medium to slow grower, this dark blue green clump is a great color addition to any garden. Clump is 15 inches high and 20 inches wide with dense white flowers.
Hosta Buckwheat Honey (Benedict, 1984) [H. Ginko Craig x H. plantaginea] Shiny medium green wavy leaves with wonderful fragrant lavender flowers. Clump reached 10 inches tall and a foot wide. Plant them near a bench to enjoy the fragrance.
Hosta Buggy Wheels (Summers, NR) [Parentage unknown] This plant forms a medium clump of large gold leaves with a medium green border. The leaves are crinkled and have prominent veins. Beautiful!
